What About Hypocrisy? - The Complete Service
Full Service | What About Hypocrisy? | Elder Rick Closius
Join the Christchurch family for this full worship service featuring Elder Rick Closius's message, What About Hypocrisy?
This morning's worship carried one thread — humility and dependence on God instead of self-righteousness — that set the table for the message. We declared that the battle isn't ours to win, lifted Christ higher than ourselves, and confessed our need before a holy God. It was the exact posture of the tax collector in Luke 18, who could only pray, "God, be merciful to me, a sinner." Then Elder Rick opened Luke 18:9-14 and confronted one of the most common objections to the church — that it's full of hypocrites — and turned it on its head. The hypocrite Jesus exposes is the respectable, religious man; the one who goes home right with God is the one who simply admits he's a sinner. The church isn't a museum for saints; it's a hospital for sinners.
