Family Ministry Director
Heidi Drake
Heidi directs Christchurch Kids with joy, creativity, and a deep love for helping children discover that they are created for a purpose. A lifelong mentor and mother of five, she believes kids learn best when faith feels real, relationships are genuine, and every child knows they are loved by Jesus.
When she is not teaching or planning lessons, Heidi is cheering at her kids’ games, exploring the outdoors, or dreaming up new ways to make the Bible come alive for the next generation.
Join the team
Come love these kids and point them to Jesus. Three things are required:
- 01 A personal relationship with Jesus (able to sign our statement of faith)
- 02 Willing to serve every 4 weeks, and find a replacement if something comes up
- 03 Clear a background check
We ask you to serve at least once every 4 weeks — and no more than every other week, so you still get to worship with everyone else.

Bringing your kids the first time
What happens when we arrive?
Come a few minutes early and look for Kids check-in. We take your name, your child's name, any allergies, and your cell number, then walk with you to the right room and introduce you to the leader who will be with your child.
What if my child cries or wants me?
Stay in the room as long as you both need — nobody is going to rush you. If your child needs you later in the hour, we text you rather than paging you from the stage.
What should we bring?
For babies and toddlers, a labeled bag with whatever your child needs during the hour. For older kids, nothing at all.
Safety and security
Who is with my child?
Every person on the Christchurch Kids team has been background checked. Heidi Drake, our Family Ministry Director, leads and trains the team, and each room has its own team.
How do you handle allergies or medical needs?
Tell us at check-in. We note it on your child's tag and tell the leaders in the room. If your child needs medication during the hour, we come get you.
Who can pick my child up?
Only an adult with the matching pickup tag from check-in. If someone different is picking your child up that morning, tell us at drop-off.
Are the rooms secure during the service?
Kids rooms stay closed for the hour, and only checked-in children and serving team members are inside.
Serving in Kids
How can I be part of the Kids team?
We would love to have you join us in loving these kids and pointing them to Jesus. You need a personal relationship with Jesus (able to sign our statement of faith), a willingness to serve every 4 weeks and find a replacement if something comes up, and a cleared background check. Contact Heidi for onboarding.
How often can I serve?
We ask that you commit to serving at least once every 4 weeks. We also ask that you not serve more often than every other week, so you can still engage in corporate worship — we have one service at this time.
Which age group can I serve?
We have a nursery for 0 to 2 years, a Littles class for 3 to 6 years, and a Kids class for 1st to 5th grade, and you are welcome to choose the age group you prefer. If you would rather serve with middle or high school students, they meet Sundays at 9:30 AM and Wednesdays at 7:00 PM — contact Bryan Munoz for information.
