Bible Reading Plan

A couple of chapters a day, straight through Scripture, as a church family. Genesis to Revelation in one year, ~15 minutes a day. Miss a day? Just pick up where we are — no guilt, only grace.

5 steps to a year in the Bible

  1. 1

    Pick your time and place

Choose a 15-minute daily window that already happens — morning coffee, lunch break, before bed. Stack the new habit on an existing one and you're far more likely to stick.

  2. 2

    Open today's passage

The 2026 plan moves through Genesis → Revelation over the calendar year, a couple of chapters a day. Use the YouVersion app on your phone, or the embedded reader on christchurchmiami.org.

  3. 3

    Read for understanding, not speed

You're not racing — you're listening. If a verse stops you, stop with it. The plan is a guide, not a quota.

  4. 4

    Write one sentence

Each day, jot one sentence: What did I notice? What did God seem to say? Even three words counts. Building the muscle matters more than the volume.

  5. 5

    Catch up gracefully

You will miss days. When you do, skip to today's reading — don't try to plug the gaps. The goal is faithfulness, not completion-scoring.

Frequently Asked Questions

What translation should I use? +

We recommend the English Standard Version (ESV) — it's the translation we preach from at Christchurch Miami. The YouVersion app has it free. NIV, NASB, CSB, and KJV are all also great options if you prefer a different translation.

How long does the daily reading take? +

About 15 minutes for the average reader. Some days are shorter (Leviticus), some are longer (the Gospels). If 15 minutes is too much to start, begin with 5 — consistency beats volume.

What if I fall behind? +

Pick up where the plan is today, not where you left off. Trying to "catch up" turns daily Bible reading into a chore, which is exactly what wrecks the habit. Skip forward and keep going.

Can I do this with my community group? +

Yes — that's actually the best way. Set a weekly question (e.g., "What stood out from this week's reading?") and discuss it together. Several Christchurch groups are reading the plan together this year.

Read with the family

Several Christchurch community groups are reading the 2026 plan together. Discussion makes the text come alive — and the accountability keeps the streak going.
