What About Success? - Ephesians 2:8-10

Jun 7, 2026    Pastor Jeff Sullivan

What if you've been chasing the wrong scoreboard your whole life?

In this week's message from our What About? series, guest Pastor Jeff Sullivan (Granada Church) tackles a question almost none of us ever stop to answer: how do you actually define success? He walks through how the world's smartest people have defined it — Carnegie, Robbins, Angelou, Booker T. Washington — and then shows why even a Super Bowl ring runs empty (just ask A.J. Brown, who said the satisfaction lasted "two days, to be exact"). Solomon, the wisest and wealthiest man who ever lived, called it all "a striving after wind."

From Ephesians 2:8-10, Pastor Jeff reframes success around two anchors: you cannot be truly successful outside of Christ — your soul was made for God and nothing else will satisfy it — and you are His workmanship, created for good works He prepared beforehand. You weren't mass-produced; you were built on purpose, for a purpose.

The challenge is simple and personal: stop borrowing someone else's definition of success and write your own — beginning with who you are in Christ.
